Senior, SSI, and SSDI Parcel Tax Exemptions

On June 7, 2022 District voters approved a parcel tax (Measure C) to support Belmont-Redwood Shores School District students and schools. The parcel tax is set at $292 per year for 10 years, with an added cost of living adjustment, beginning with the 2024-2025 tax year and continuing through the 2032-33 tax year.

Senior citizens and recipients of SSI and SSDI may request an exemption from paying the Measure C parcel tax. Any previously approved exemption for Measure R and Measure K (previously voter-approved parcel taxes which expired on June 30, 2023) will automatically apply to Measure C without an additional application.

Copies of the Parcel Tax Exemption Application are available by clicking on the link to the right or in person at the District Office. To obtain an exemption, you must submit the following by mail or in person to the District Office:

  • A completed Parcel Tax Exemption Application;

  • A copy of your current property tax bill;

  • A copy of an official identification (e.g., a driver's license, state identification card, Medicare card, or passport) that shows proof of age;

  • If applying for an SSI or SSDI exemption, a copy of your proof of qualification; and

  • If applying for an SSDI exemption, a copy of your most recent tax returns.

Please return the documents to the District Office by June 15, 2024, to begin receiving a parcel tax exemption for the 2024-25 tax year.

The Belmont-Redwood Shores District Office is located at 2960 Hallmark Drive, Belmont, CA 94002.  If mailing your Parcel Tax Exemption Application and supporting documents, please note "Attn: Parcel Tax Exemptions."
